- Responsibilities:

You will work closely with artists, collectors, and gallery owners to sell the artwork.

 

Sales and Negotiation: Your primary responsibility would be to generate sales and drive revenue. You would engage with potential buyers, discuss the artwork, answer questions, provide information about the artists, and negotiate prices. Building and maintaining relationships with clients is crucial for repeat business and referrals.

 

Networking and Relationship Building: Networking is essential to expand your client base and establish connections within the art community. You would engage with collectors, art enthusiasts, fellow dealers, and industry professionals, attending social events and building relationships that can lead to new business opportunities.

- Qualifications:

To excel as an art dealer sales manager at an art fair, the following qualifications and skills are beneficial:

Art and Art Market Knowledge: A strong understanding of art history, various art styles, and the current art market trends is essential. Knowledge of different artists, their backgrounds, and the value of their artwork helps in effectively promoting and selling the pieces.

 

Sales and Negotiation Skills: Excellent sales skills are crucial to effectively engage with potential buyers, understand their needs, and close deals. Strong negotiation skills are also important for securing the best prices for the artwork while maintaining customer satisfaction.

 

Networking and Relationship Building: Building and maintaining relationships with collectors, artists, fellow dealers, and industry professionals is vital. Strong networking skills help expand your client base and create opportunities for collaboration and referrals.

 

Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary to convey information about the artwork, engage with clients, and build rapport. Being approachable, friendly, and professional helps in creating a positive experience for clients.

 

Business Acumen: Understanding the business side of the art industry is crucial. This includes knowledge of pricing strategies, market trends, financial management, and the ability to make informed decisions about purchasing and selling artwork.

 

Organizational and Time Management Skills: Running a booth at an art fair involves handling multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong organizational and time management skills are necessary to set up the booth, manage inventory, interact with clients, and handle administrative responsibilities efficiently.

 

Marketing and Promotion: Proficiency in marketing and promotional strategies is valuable. Knowledge of social media platforms, online marketing techniques, and creating visually appealing marketing materials helps in attracting potential buyers to the booth.

 

Team Management: If you have a team working with you, leadership and team management skills are important to delegate tasks, provide guidance, and ensure a cohesive and productive work environment.

 

Adaptability and Resilience: Art fairs can be fast-paced and unpredictable. Being adaptable, flexible, and resilient in the face of challenges is crucial for success in this role.

 

Education and Experience: While a formal education in art history, fine arts, or business is not mandatory, it can be advantageous. Relevant experience in art sales, gallery management, or working in the art industry provides practical knowledge and credibility.

- Compensation:

The starting base salary for this position is $25 per hour. In addition to the base salary, a commission of 5% is offered on each sale made by the sales manager.

  • 8 hour shifts

  • On call

  • Weekend availability
